Gustav Klimt Recreated Art

Date: 2011-04-26

Jewellery Box - JudithIf you appreciate Gustav Klimt, or if you are an art historian or simply a lover of the finer things in life, you'll love these jewellery boxes with Gustav Klimt recreated art.

Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918) was an Austrian symbolist painter and a prominent member of the Vienna Secession movement. Gustav Klimt is well known for his works of art which includes paintings, murals, sketches, and other art. His theme was often based on the female body marked by a  degree of suggested eroticism. Much of his Klimt's work is distinguished by elegant gold or coloured decoration, spirals and swirls, and phallic shapes used to conceal the more erotic positions of the drawings upon which many of his paintings are based. This can be seen in Judith I (1901) and in The Kiss (1907–1908), a couple of jewellery boxes with Gustav Klimt recreated art.

Art historians note an eclectic range of influences contributing to the distinct style of Gustav Klimt, including Egyptian, Minoan, Classical Greek, Byzantine, late medieval European and even Japanese inspirations. Klimt made use of symbols or symbolic elements to convey psychological ideas and emphasize the 'freedom' of art from traditional culture.
