Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918) was an Austrian symbolist painter and a prominent member of the Vienna Secession movement. Gustav Klimt is well known for his works of art which includes paintings, murals, sketches, and other art. His theme was often based on the female body marked by a  degree of suggested eroticism. Much of his Klimt's work is distinguished by elegant gold or coloured decoration, spirals and swirls, and phallic shapes used to conceal the more erotic positions of the drawings upon which many of his paintings are based.
